The Cougars' first road swing includes four games against teams that qualified for last season's NCAA Tournament. The stretch begins on Feb. 24 at UNC Wilmington, before the team plays in the East Carolina Tournament from

Feb. 27-March 1. There, the Cougars will play Oklahoma State, St. John's and ECU.

The Cougars host local rival Charleston Southern on March 4, and they open Southern Conference play against UNC Greensboro at home March 7.

The Cougars also have out-of-conference games with Coastal Carolina, South Carolina, Clemson and UNC Asheville, along with return dates with Mercer and CSU. Charleston hosts USC at Patriots Point on March 24, and visits Clemson on May 12.

In Southern Conference play, Charleston hosts Furman,

Davidson and Appalachian State. The Cougars host The Citadel in a non-league matchup on April 7.

Swindle now a Brewer

Former Charleston Southern pitcher R.J. Swindle agreed to terms on a major league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers .

The left-handed reliever made his major league debut in July with the Philadelphia Phillies , making three appearances and striking out four over 4 2/3 innings. Swindle, 25, has logged 194 minor league innings in the Red Sox, Yankees and Phillies organizations while posting a 1.58 earned run average with 226 strikeouts and 25 walks. A 14th-round selection by the Red Sox in the 2004 draft, Swindle became the first former CSU player to pitch in the big leagues.
