Eyre re-signs with Phillies
PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Left-handed reliever Scott Eyre signed a $2 million, one-year contract Monday to remain with the Philadelphia Phillies.

Eyre was 3-0 with a 1.88 ERA in 19 appearances for Philadelphia. He had 18 strikeouts in 14 1-3 innings. Eyre began the season with the Chicago Cubs. Overall, he was 5-0 with a 4.21 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 25 2-3 innings. The lefty specialist held left-handed hitters to a .220 average with one home run allowed in 50 at-bats.

The 36-year-old Eyre is 26-29 with a 4.36 ERA in 575 career games for the Chicago White Sox (1997-2000), Toronto (2001-02), San Francisco (2002-05), Cubs (2006-08) and Phillies.

In other news, the World Series champion Phillies agreed on one-year contracts with pitching coach Rich Dubee, first-base coach Davey Lopes and hitting coach Milt Thompson. Bench Jimy Williams elected not to return and third-base coach Steve Smith was told last week his contract wouldn't be renewed.
