Philadelphia Phillies Notes, Quotes 2009-04-24
--RHP Brad Lidge was watching video of himself recently when he noticed a mechanical flaw in his delivery. Specifically, Lidge noticed that his back side was dropping lower than last season, when he went 41-for-41 in save opportunities and posted a 1.95 ERA. Lidge blew a save Saturday against the Padres, snapping his streak at 47 consecutive regular-season saves. Lidge made the mechanical adjustment during his 47-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, and he allowed one hit in a scoreless ninth inning Thursday against the Brewers. "That little adjustment could mean a big difference," Lidge told the Philadelphia Daily News. "I stayed taller on my back side, and all of a sudden, my fastball went from being pretty much belt-high every time to being knee-high every time."

--CF Shane Victorino has won the 2009 Lou Gehrig Award, presented by the Phi Delta Theta fraternity. The award, given for Victorino's work to raise money for ALS, will be presented on July 4. Gehrig was a member of the fraternity's chapter at Columbia University.

BY THE NUMBERS: 3 -- Home runs allowed by RH closer Brad Lidge through April 19. Lidge allowed only two homers all of last season.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "Harry Kalas may have -- if you can look past Ben Franklin and William Penn -- been the greatest person ever to grace Philadelphia in the history of this city. As many lives as he affected over the time that he lived in Philadelphia and around this area, who would have had a bigger impact on the city? Who would?" -- Mike Schmidt.
