Philadelphia Phillies Notes, Quotes 2009-04-29
--2B Chase Utley belted a two-run homer in the third inning and added a solo shot in the sixth against Nationals LHP John Lannan in Tuesday night's 7-1 rout. It was Utley's 16th career multi-homer game and his first since April 20, 2008. "The weather's warming up, and when the weather warms up, the ball is going to travel a little more," Utley said. "We have a lot of good hitters, from top to bottom, and we can swing the bats pretty well."

--LHP Jamie Moyer didn't allow a home run Sunday. Neither did relievers Chad Durbin or J.A. Happ. Thus, the Phillies' streak of allowing home runs in every game this season came to a close. "Wooo-hooo!" Moyer said. "Now I'll sleep tonight." By allowing a home run in 16 consecutive games to open the season, Phillies pitchers set a major league record, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

--LHP Jamie Moyer earned his 249th career victory Sunday, tying him with Vic Willis for 44th on the all-time list. He also left an impression on Florida Marlins 24-year-old LHP Graham Taylor, who walked six, allowed four runs and threw 98 pitches in 3-2/3 innings Sunday in his major-league debut. "Jamie Moyer is the type of guy I look up to," Taylor said. "Hopefully that's someone I can develop into. I'm a little like him, a strike thrower, try to keep the ball down with movement. It was nice to go head-to-head against him and actually see him in person. Definitely I will learn from that."

BY THE NUMBERS: 40 -- Through Sunday, runs scored by the Phillies in the seventh inning or later, most in the majors.

QUOTE TO NOTE: "We'll be all right. We're a team that hangs around and hangs around, and when it's time to kick it in gear, we do. That's what we've done the past two years. I'm not saying that's the right way to do it, but it's definitely an excuse for right now." -- RF Jayson Werth last week after the Phillies' record fell to 6-8
