Phils win cliffhanger in 10
MIAMI - The Phillies' magic lives on.

For the second straight game, it was a case of the Phillies knowing how to finish a game, and the Marlins' bullpen not knowing how to close one.

The Phils tied last night's game with the Marlins in the ninth inning when pinch-hitter Eric Bruntlett's infield out scored Jayson Werth, who led off the inning with a walk.

Run-scoring singles by Chase Utley and Werth in the 10th inning gave the Phils a 6-4 win before 26,412 at Dolphin Stadium.

The Phils have come from behind in all eight wins. They have scored a major-league leading 40 runs in the seventh inning or later.

quot;It isn't a bad way to win if you score enough,quot; manager Charlie Manuel said, quot;but you don't want to play that way every night.quot;

Closer Brad Lidge loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th before striking out Cody Ross. Manuel wasn't around at the end, as he had been ejected by plate umpire Ed Montague before Ross' at-bat.

quot;We thought the last pitch to [Brett] Carroll was a strike,quot; said Manuel of his first ejection, quot;but after looking at the replay, it wasn't.quot;

Logan Kensing, the Marlins' sixth pitcher, gave up consecutive singles to Shane Victorino, Utley, Ryan Howard and Werth in the 10th for the decisive runs. After taking the loss, Kensing was designated for assignment.

quot;They all count,quot; said Victorino, who scored the go-ahead run in the 10th on Utley's hard liner off the glove of shortstop Hanley Ramirez. quot;You would like to go out and blow somebody out, but we'll do whatever it takes.quot;

Jimmy Rollins singled to lead off the sixth and later scored when Howard hit into a bases-loaded double play, cutting the deficit to 4-3.

In the ninth inning, the Marlins used three pitchers. Werth walked and Raul Ibanez singled to start things off. When Bruntlett, the fourth pinch-hitter used by Manuel in the inning, grounded out to third, Werth scored.

quot;Utley got a huge hit,quot; Manuel said, quot;and we managed to finally tie it on the one Bruntlett beat into the ground.quot;

Starter Chan Ho Park gave the Phillies what they had expected since spring training, and they gave him what he needed, another miracle finish.

Park, who helped himself with a bases-empty homer in the third inning, went seven innings, allowing four runs and only five hits. In the fourth, Howard's solo homer made it 2-0.

quot;We managed to stay in the game and give ourselves an opportunity,quot; Howard said, quot;and Chan Ho and the bullpen kept us close.quot;

Jorge Cantu and Dan Uggla homered for Florida, extending the major league record of the Phillies allowing a homer in the team's first 16 games. They have allowed a major-league high 34 homers.

Following the fourth, Park retired 12 of the next 14 batters, and relievers Chad Durbin, Scott Eyre, Ryan Madson and Lidge made it stand up.

quot;I was kind of mad after the homers,quot; Park said, quot;because I threw the ball in the middle of the plate. I knew all we needed was a chance, and we would come back. We always do.quot;
